"What’s the weirdest thing you’ve seen, felt, or thought recently?"
This is the beginning of something. Or maybe the middle. I've worked with futures for a decade, not just observing what's next, but treating future-making as a collective act. Built from vision and desire, sometimes necessity, usually with a provocation at its core. Thinking in spectrums: mild to wild, near to far.
Casting that net wide, I ran into something new. A fog. A disorientation I hadn't felt before, not apathy, not a lack of motivation. Simply no sense of direction. Non at all.
Futures work runs on projection. Multiple scales, plural outcomes, signals you follow like light. But what happens when these expressions stop diffracting? How do you keep walking with confidence when nothing shines back?
It's not just unclear. It's downright weird.
So here we are. Before I can take anyone further, I'm wading through the underlying principle sitting in front of me, one that might turn into a direction none of us has dreamed of.
Yet.
